He was born in Venice, and lived in Russia after 1738. Translator at the Collegium of Foreign Affairs (1740). He prepared for publication the Russian-Latin-French-Italian dictionary ("Leksikon") which included about 10 000 words and grammatical sketches of the Russian language. He translated (together with Stepan Pisarev) the "Moral Philosophy" ("Filosofiia nravouchitelnaia") (1764-1765) by Emanuele Tesauro.
